Pandia Health

Birth control with transparency

*Free with Insurance

Pandia Health brands itself as the only doctor-founded, doctor-led vendor of birth control online, which is true. With that in mind, Pandia does stand out from other vendors in how transparent the service is with patients.

  • Transparency

Pandia stood out for its transparency. They'll tell you exactly what type of birth control you should try based on your specific needs, even if they don't carry it.

  • Accessibility

Pandia can only prescribe you birth control if you live in California, Florida or Texas.

  • Convenience

Pandia makes it easy to access health care professionals and they also do a six-week follow-up appointment for free after prescribing birth control.

  • Choice

Pandia goes above and beyond when it comes to choice, and their founder is a champion for making periods optional.

Dr. Sophia Yen, Pandia Health's CEO and co-founder, is a champion for making periods optional. There’s even a section on Pandia’s site that outlines how to safely skip periods using birth control. The company stood out to us through details like this; Pandia prefers to call you to talk about your birth control (instead of texting or emailing like other services) and has a financial aid fund to give more women access to birth control.

Pros

  • Pill prescriptions start at $15/month without insurance

  • Pandia asks what you prefer between three different types of birth control methods: the pill, the patch, or the ring. This is a plus, as some other telemedicine options don't give all three options.

  • You can apply for financial aid through the company's birth control fund

  • You will get one year's worth of unlimited access to Pandia's team of doctors when you use their service

  • The company transparently showcases the doctors they work with, along with those doctors' credentials

  • The company's founder, Sophia Yen, is a champion for making periods optional

  • If you already have an active prescription for birth control, Pandia provides free delivery of your birth control to all 50 states

  • Pandia's doctors will recommend birth control depending on your specific needs, which we have not seen on other platforms (i.e. the best type of birth control for acne)

  • Pandia does a six-week follow-up appointment for free

Cons

  • The biggest downside we found with Pandia Health is that it can only prescribe you birth control if you live in California, Florida or Texas.

  • Pandia's doctor consultation fee is $20 to get a new birth control prescription. However, know that there are other companies that offer this initial consultation for free.
